Hello!
I am from the sunny island of Trinidad and Tobago. My dad came all the way from Canton City China when he was 14 years old fleeing from the war between Japan and China. He met and fell in love with my mom who had Venezuelan heritage…so basically I guess you can say I am a Latina China….lol!! I am married to my husband who is a Carib Spanish… and we have two sons, 11 and 15, so I guess you can say our children are a great blend and diffusion or potpourri of culture. Or as they say here in Trinidad…they are a callaloo – Callaloo being a soup of all mixed up…it may not look so appetizing but I can assure you it is very tasty!!
Our country is made up of all different races and religion. A couple years ago, Nelson Mandela dubbed us “the Rainbow Country”. If you are a cricket fan, we are the home of Brian Lara. If you are a football fan, we are the home of Soca Warriors. We are also known for beautiful ladies as we can boast of having two Miss Universe and one Miss World…
Although Trinidad is unique in many ways…most West Indian islands are almost the same yet different. As a group of persons, we have our own way of walking…talking….the way we get together and of course the foods and celebrations. After all Trinidad is known for its soca, steelband and Carnival, Jamaica for its Reggae, Antigua for its great history and for yachting…great medical schools. Barbados is the land of flying fish. Grenada is known for its nutmeg. Basically you would know the West Indies as a fun, intriguing, warm and friendly list of places to visit. So come with me…explore or share a West Indian Life. Learn some blogging tips along the way and meet some West Indian bloggers.
As a fun loving, easy going person, I enjoy sharing knowledge with others. I always keep a smile on my face and joy in my heart. It is my ambition to share that joy with others. Life is never easy, but I believe that we can all learn from each other, and it is my sincere desire that this blog will help others. Maybe if you are traveling to one of our islands…or you just want to know more about blogging..or tell me about your life in the West Indies….make sure you stop by to say hello!!
I would love to hear from you
